Oh my

What have I done…? Am I insane?

Have I ever taken on a mad workload…. still, they say that part of success is having a clearly defined goal. Not only that, but as my old violin teacher used to say - if you aim for the stars, you might hit the moon.

So first things first… following the excellent advice of Jim Karter, I am going to start by creating single pages for all the web sites, and by linking to wikipedia.

Unlike him I’m not going to wait a month before doing anything else though…. ;) Besides, some of my sites are already a few months old.

His method appears to be a deliberate attempt to make sites look “natural” to google - and he is currently earning $80,000 per month online… so he knows what he is talking about. I’ll tip my hat to his ideas as best I can. However, the cornerstone of Jim’s wealth building would appear to be SEO - and developing organic traffic. This is not the only method I am going to use.

Google’s latest algorithms *apparently* feature semantic indexing - this is a little complex to explain right now but in essence it means that they are better at detecting “human factors” in design and weeding out spammy content. That’s ok because I am building sites for humans. However, Google is sure to be on the lookout for “unnatural linking” - in other words, if you suddenly get a thousand new links one day, and then none the next, it might look somewhat artificial… and you might end up in the sin bin.

I will do a little on site SEO - make sure the title tags start with keywords, put meta tags in, heading tags and some text content.

Next step is to put in place the means to publicize this blog. This essentially means setting up the feedburner links, RSS buttons, and organizing things in terms of design so that the pages appear where I want them. I’m not quite sure yet how to do all this stuff as I’m new to blogging - so I have some study to do. I do love the Dark Water theme though…

I have a bunch of other work to do today - creating remixes for a record label. So will post again when all the above is done.

I’m glad I created this blog. I was nervous that I would wake up in the morning and cringe at what I had created. But no - this is good. It will also help me to stay clearly focused on the objective.

Here’s to having a clearly defined goal.
